Join us in building community and allyship against antisemitism

Over the past year, the Jewish Federation of Ottawa has partnered with One Way Ministries to educate Christian pastors and their congregants about the reality of antisemitism faced by Jews in Ottawa. Through this year of learning, our Christian allies expressed a heartfelt desire to connect directly with the Jewish community. They want to learn more, to stand with us, and to build meaningful relationships. At the same time, the Jewish community is eager to engage in these important conversations.

While antisemitism has affected us for thousands of years, it has re-emerged with renewed force here in Ottawa since October 7, 2023. Our Christian friends are committed to being active allies against this ancient hatred and all forms of prejudice. They want to meet our community, foster friendships, and strengthen their ability to take a stand. Together, we can build a stronger, united front.

On November 24, 2024, at 7 p.m., we invite 150 Christians and 150 Jews to gather for an evening of conversation, food, and friendship. The event will feature tables of eight, with an equal number of Christians and Jews at each table, creating a welcoming space for genuine dialogue and connection.

To spark discussion, we’ll provide icebreaker questions and texts from the Book of Esther and Psalms, but the direction each conversation takes is up to you and your table. This evening is about listening, learning, and beginning to work together.

If you want to be part of empowering our Christian community to stand with us against antisemitism, please sign up to join the waitlist. Confirmations will be sent closer to the event to ensure a balanced group.

After a year of building allyship, it’s time to come together face-to-face and heart-to-heart. For questions or to join the waitlist, reach out to Jodi Green at jgreen@JewishOttawa.com.
