CHERRY BRISKET
Brisket is synonymous with Rosh Hashanah. Here’s a new take on an old standby!
- 1 6 lb. Brisket
- 1 can sour cherries drained
- 1 pkg dried onion soup mix
- 1 cup bbq sauce
- 3/4 cup Coca Cola
In a saucepan place cherry juice bbq sauce and Coca-Cola. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes
Place brisket in the roaster. Sprinkle onion soup mix over meat.
Pour sauce over brisket and sprinkle with cherries. Seal pan tightly with foil and bake at 350 for 4 hours. Cool and then slice meat and top with gravy from the roaster.
APPLE HONEY CAKE
Apples and honey are also synonymous with Rosh Hashanah so what could be better than this?
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cups canola oil
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp. Baking powder
- 1 tsp. Baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp. Cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. Salt
- Pinch of cloves and nutmeg
- 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and shredded
Beat eggs. Whisk in honey, both sugars, oil, and vanilla.
In another bowl combine flour, powder, soda, cinnamon salt, and spices.
Incorporate flour mixture into the liquid. Fold in apples.
Spray Bundt pan with cooking spray and pour in batter. Bake at 325 for 90 minutes.
The cake can be iced or topped with icing sugar.
APPLE AND PINEAPPLE KUGEL
- 12 oz. Pkg of wide noodles
- 3/4 cup melted margarine
- 1 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 can of apple pie filling
- 2 cans of pineapple tidbits drained
Preheat oven to 350
Cook noodles for 8-10 minutes and drain
Mix together the eggs, margarine, sugar, and vanilla
Add egg mixture to noodles. Add the apple filling and pineapple to the noodles. Place in a greased 9x13 Pyrex dish. Sprinkle top with cinnamon sugar mixture. Bake for 60 minutes.
