Summer is sizzling with hot topics in Jewish learning! Join JET for their annual summer learning extravaganza, July 3rd to July 9th. This year’s Yarchei Kallah will be an amazing week of classes, food and friends, culminating in a special Shabbaton!
Both in-person and online options are available. Join in-person at the Torah Day School of Ottawa (with air conditioning) or virtually over Zoom. Participants will learn from impressive guest speakers as well as some of Ottawa’s talented teachers! Course topics include “The Male and Female in You”, “The Laws of War”, “The Art of Amazement” and so much more. Check out the weekly schedule or program guide for the full list of fascinating topics, available at jetottawa.com!
Using JET’s handy program guide, participants can choose the classes that suit their interests and schedules. Seasoned learners, beginners and everyone in between can find classes that work for them. Learners can commit to one class (or many) or a series running the whole week long, drop in for a Lunch & Learn, or pick a combination that works best for them.
The dynamic Rabbi Dr. Alexander Seinfeld, PhD, is this year’s main guest speaker. Rabbi Seinfeld is the Executive Director of Jewish Spiritual Literacy (jsli.org). He is the author of several books, including The Art of Amazement and the popular iphone/ipad app, “The Amazing Jewish-Fact-a-Day Calendar”. He completed degrees in Classics and Anthropology at Stanford and a Ph.D. in Judaism at Towson University. Rabbi Seinfeld has created many exciting and innovative programs including the Art of Amazement Seminar, the Love Your Neighbor program for seniors in assisted living facilities, and presently the Torah Health and Fitness program.
Rabbi Seinfeld opens the weeklong event with a thought-provoking talk: “Body & Soul: Are Health and Fitness a Mitzvah?” This Sunday evening program, partnered with CBTO, will include a delicious dessert reception. In addition, Rabbi Seinfeld will end the week on a high note at a rejuvenating Shabbaton, partnered with CMH, where he will share “The Art of Amazing Relationships” and much more! Enjoy mouthwatering Shabbat food along with excellent food for thought.
JET’s Yarchei Kallah is a much-anticipated annual event -- a chance for community members to deepen their knowledge, shmooze, and connect with inspiring teachers and friends. A week of focused learning allows for deep dives into topics, exploration and growth. This will be the inspiring and rejuvenating experience that everyone needs!
