With guests Debbie & Gary Rose from Project Abraham
On the morning of August 3, 2014, ISIS fighters entered the Yezidi city of Sinjar, bent on total destruction. In the days that followed approximately 10,000 Yezidis were executed in cold blood – shot, beheaded, burned alive. As well, 7,000 Yezidi women and girls were abducted.
There is a word for what the Yezidis have endured. Jews know it only too well. It is genocide.
Since 2015 Project Abraham has been supporting the resettlement of Yezidi survivors of ISIS in the Greater Toronto Area. Now, with over 300 volunteers, we work to help these traumatized people re-establish their lives in the safety of Canada. With the freedom to practice the Yezidi religion without fear, we are empowering them to create a future for themselves and their children as fully integrated Canadian citizens.
