Jewish delegates to British Labour Party conference to get bodyguards

(JTA) – Jewish delegates to the upcoming British Labour Party conference will be given bodyguards over fears for their safety from supporters of party leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The protection also will be offered to Jewish Labour Party lawmakers, the Daily Mail reported late Saturday. [Read more…]

(JTA) – Video footage from 2013 has surfaced of British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is battling allegations of anti-Semitism, implying that Zionists were unable to understand British ways of thinking despite growing up in the country.

In a clip of Corbyn’s speech published by The Daily Mail, Corbyn told attendees at a London conference that “Zionists … clearly have two problems. One is they don’t want to study history, and secondly, having lived in this country for a very long time, probably all their lives, they don’t understand English irony either. (JTA) – British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, already facing scrutiny over his contacts with various Palestinian terrorist groups, hosted a 2012 panel featuring a number of senior members of Hamas, the terrorist organization that controls the Gaza Strip.

According to a new report in The Telegraph, Corbyn appeared beside several individuals who had been convicted of murder and had been freed the previous year in a prisoner swap. [Read more…]

(JTA) – Jeremy Corbyn, who was not yet British Labour Party leader, met with the leader-in-exile of a Palestinian terror group only weeks before its members carried out an attack on a Jerusalem synagogue in which six people were killed.

The Times of London published a picture of Corbyn standing next to Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) chief Maher al Taher at a commemoration ceremony for the Black September terrorists who took part in the 1972 massacre of 11 Israelis at the Munich Olympics. [Read more…]

(JTA) – British Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn issued a scathing critique of Israel after being publicly reprimanded by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his apparent participation in a commemoration ceremony in memory of members of the Black September terrorist organization who took part in the 1972 massacre of 11 Israelis during the Munich Olympics.

Pictures of the event, which seemed to show Corbyn laying a wreath near the terrorists’ graves in a Tunisian cemetery four years ago, were published in the Daily Mail last Friday and immediately led to a political firestorm. [Read more…]

JERUSALEM (JTA) – Israel should not have acted with restraint in the face of hundreds of kites and balloons carrying incendiary materials launched from Gaza, Education Minister Naftali Bennett said Monday.

Bennett, the leader of the right-wing Jewish Home party, said Israel’s reluctance to go after those launching the kites, many of whom are children, allowed the problem to grow unacceptably large. [Read more…]

(JTA) – A newspaper published photos of British Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn holding a wreath in a Tunisian cemetery, saying it was near the graves of Black September terrorists who in 1972 killed 11 Israeli athletes during the Munich Olympics.

The pictures published in the Daily Mail on Friday were reportedly taken in 2014. Corbyn, a far-left politician, was elected in 2015 to lead Britain’s Labour party amid allegations that he is encouraging anti-Semitism in its ranks. [Read more…]

(JTA) – After firing more than 180 rockets into civilian areas, armed terror groups in Gaza said Thursday afternoon that they would refrain from firing on southern Israel if Israel also maintains the calm.

Shortly after the announcement, however, more rockets were fired from Gaza at Israel. Code Red rocket alert sirens were sounded as far away from the Gaza border as Beersheba, the first time that sirens have gone off in the city since the 2014 Gaza War. More than 150 rockets from Gaza pound southern Israel

(JTA) – Israelis living in southern Israel spent Wednesday night and into Thursday morning in bomb shelters as more than 150 rockets were launched from Gaza.

One woman, a foreign worker from Thailand, was seriously injured early Thursday morning when one of the rockets hit a home in a community on the border with Gaza. By Thursday afternoon she had regained consciousness and was taken off a respirator. Several other homes and factories, as well as cars, were damaged after being hit by rockets and shrapnel.
