EU committee votes to freeze $17 million in Palestinian aid over textbook incitement against Israel

(JTA) – A European Parliament committee voted to freeze more than $17 million in aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) incitement against Israel in its textbooks.

The Budgetary Committee’s bill is an amendment to the European Union’s draft budget, which will go to a plenary vote in late October. If the budget passes, the EU will withhold the money from the Palestinian Authority until it commits to reforming its textbooks. [Read more…]

JERUSALEM (JTA) – Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon said Israel will deduct from the tax revenues it collects for the Palestinian Authority the amount of money that is paid to the teen who stabbed Ari Fuld to death.

Kahlon made the announcement on Friday in a tweet.

In the tweet, he also said that he would find ways to prevent the family of Khalil Jabarin, 17, from benefitting from his murder of the 45-year-old dual American and Israeli citizen, who was the father of four children. [Read more…]

Gaza teen said killed by Israeli troops during Yom Kippur rioting

(JTA) – Hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators rioted along the Gaza border on Yom Kippur, throwing firebombs and rocks at Israeli soldiers, and a Palestinian teen reportedly was killed during the response by troops.

The Israeli troops responded with riot dispersal methods, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement. The Gaza Health Ministry said along with the teen killed, at least three others were injured in Wednesday’s riots near Rafah by soldiers using live fire, the Palestinian Maan news agency reported. Woman says Ari Fuld shot Palestinian assailant as he tried to stab her

(JTA) – An employee of a falafel shop at the Gush Etzion junction said the Palestinian teen who stabbed Ari Fuld was running at her brandishing his knife when Fuld shot him.

After he was stabbed, Fuld, an American and Israeli citizen who served in the Israeli army and continued to serve in the reserves, ran after the stabber, then planted his feet and shot at him before collapsing to the ground. He was pronounced dead at a Jerusalem hospital after resuscitation efforts failed. A civilian bystander also shot the assailant, who remains in a Jerusalem hospital with slight injuries. French chief rabbi suggests special prayer for terrorist victims on Yom Kippur

(JTA) – France’s chief rabbi asked his congregants to recite a special prayer for victims of terrorism during Yom Kippur, which this year falls on the country’s national day of commemoration for them.

Rabbi Haim Korsia wrote and sent the letter last week to several other rabbis, informing them that this year will be the last that the September 19 National Commemoration for Victims of Terrorism occurs during the Jewish month of Tishrei, in which Jews celebrate the High Holidays and Yom Kippur, the Jewish main day of atonement. (JTA) – Thousands of Israelis attended the late night funeral for U.S. born Israel activist Ari Fuld, who was killed in a terrorist stabbing attack.

The funeral began at close to midnight on Sunday, less than a day after Fuld, a 45-year-old father of four, was stabbed to death by a teenage Palestinian assailant outside a shopping mall near Efrat, the West Bank town in the Etzion bloc where he lived. Fuld, a dual American and Israeli citizen, chased after his attacker and shot him before falling to the ground. He later was declared dead at a Jerusalem hospital, after resuscitation efforts failed. Report says Iran gives Iraqi militias missiles capable of reaching Jerusalem

(JTA) – Iran has given missiles capable of hitting Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to proxies in Iraq, Reuters reported.

Iran has transferred short-range ballistic missiles to allies in Iraq over the last few months, three Iranian officials and two Iraqi intelligence sources told the news agency, according to the report Friday. The officials said Iran was helping the Shi’ite militias it is arming to start making their own missiles. [Read more…]

(JTA) – Israel arrested a Hamas cell made up mostly of women who operated out of the West Bank city of Hebron.

The cell made up of seven women was operated by two male senior Hamas operatives who served various prison sentences for Hamas activities, the Israel Security Agency (ISA), known as Shin Bet, announced Tuesday. [Read more…]
