In October, leaves are falling, the weather is cooler and we start to focus on more indoor activities. This is the season when people need a “pick-me-up” as the days become shorter. Active Jewish Adults (AJA) 50+ has just the tonic.
AJA 50+ is viewed by many retirees as crucial to maintaining social engagement within the Jewish community. AJA 50+ aims to provide opportunities for mature adults at all stages of their lives to spend time together enjoying like-minded activities, meeting new people and socializing.
AJA 50+ needs to raise funds to deliver our programs to 400 members, including older seniors who attend the Creative Connections program. Fully 45 per cent of funds raised for the year come from one event: the Annual AJA 50+ Bridge and Games Fundraiser.
The entire community is invited to attend this year’s fundraiser. Yu don’t have to be a member of AJA 50+ to participate.
The Annual AJA 50+ Bridge and Games Fundraiser will be held Thursday, October 27, 11:15 am to 3 pm, at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre in Britannia Park. The cost of $40 includes your favourite games, a kosher lunch, coffee and desserts.
Liz Schwartz, accredited with the American Contract Bridge League, will direct the duplicate bridge tables. Game players can play as individuals or together with friends at the tables dedicated to duplicate bridge, contract bridge, canasta, mah-jongg, chess, scrabble or a game of your choice.
To register, click on “Special Events” at www.aja50plus.ca or call Flo Morgan at 613-224-8286. The registration deadline is October 20.
