British town councillor suspended by Labour Party admits saying Jews drink blood

(JTA) – A British town councillor suspended from the Labour Party for sharing a post on Facebook that said it is a Jewish ritual to drink blood admitted to publishing the articles after initially denying it.

Damien Enticott, a councillor in Bognor Regis, a town on England’s southern coast, told the Jewish Chronicle last week that he had not published the post. Enticott said he lives in a shared house and has a computer that does not have passwords, suggesting that someone else made the post in his name. [Read more…]

(JTA) – A woman ordained by the Orthodox Yeshivat Maharat is opening her own synagogue in Philadelphia.

Rabbanit Hadas Fruchter, 28, announced Saturday she will open a Modern Orthodox synagogue in Philadelphia with seed money from Start Up Shul and support from Hillel’s Office of Innovation, which gave her a one-year Fellowship for Rabbinic Entrepreneurs. [Read more…]

Anti-Zionist graffiti, Palestinian flags placed on French synagogue

(JTA) – Graffiti reading “no to Zionists, no to Israel” was painted on a synagogue in western France.

The vandals behind the action, which was discovered on Saturday at the main Jewish house of worship in the coastal city of Le Havre, 100 miles northwest of Paris, also placed stickers displaying the Palestinian, Lebanese and French flags on the building’s entrance. [Read more…]

Arson balloon from Gaza lands in city of Beersheba

(JTA) – An arson balloon believed to have been launched from Gaza landed in the major southern Israeli city of Beersheba.

The cluster of balloons, carrying an incendiary device, landed on a street in the city’s east on Monday. The road was closed to cars and pedestrians as police sappers arrived to defuse the device. [Read more…]

British Labour Party looking into 250 complaints of anti-Semitic abuse

(JTA) – The British Labour Party is investigating more than 250 complaints of anti-Semitic abuse.

Israel releases Turkish woman accused of terrorism in bid to free American pastor held by Turkey

(JTA) – A Turkish woman arrested by Israel for allegedly transferring money to the terrorist group Hamas reportedly as part of a deal to free an American pastor from Turkish custody was released.

Ebru Ozkan, 27, was released earlier this week, a week after her indictment, and deported to Turkey, despite her upcoming trial. The charges against her, including posing a national security threat and ties to a terrorist organization, were not dropped. Legal proceedings against Ozkan reportedly have been suspended because she “cannot be located” in Turkey. [Read more…]
