Poll: Donald Trump will be ‘pro-Israel president,’ most Israelis believe

JERUSALEM (JTA) – Some 83 per cent of Israelis believe that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump will be a “pro-Israel president,” according to a new poll.

The poll commissioned by the Ruderman Family Foundation also found that 49 per cent of Israelis thought that the status of Jews in America would remain the same in the wake of the U.S. election, while 32 per cent thought their status would be stronger and 19 per cent weaker. [Read more…]

Netanyahu will take up ‘bad’ Iran deal with Trump

WASHINGTON (JTA) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he looked forward to speaking to Donald Trump about what to do about the “bad” Iran deal once Trump is U.S. president.

“As far as President-elect Trump, I look forward to speaking to him about what to do about this bad deal,” Netanyahu said Sunday, addressing the annual Saban Forum via a satellite feed. [Read more…]

Stolen Dachau front gate reading ‘Work makes you free’ recovered after 2 years

(JTA) – The iron gate greeting Dachau prisoners with a sign saying “Work Makes You Free” in German was found in Norway two years after it was stolen from the former Nazi camp in Germany.

The recovery of the stolen section of the gate from the prisoners’ entrance reading “Arbeit macht frei” was announced Friday. The gate measures about 6 feet by 3 feet. [Read more…]
