JERUSALEM (JTA) – The chair of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph Dunford, is visiting Israel.
It is Dunford’s second visit to Israel since assuming his position in October 2015.
Dunford arrived in Israel on Wednesday for an official visit, as the guest of IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement issued on Thursday.
They are scheduled to discuss a variety of issues during the visit. “The visit reinforces the strong and enduring US- Israel defence relationship and continues the co-operation between the two militaries,” the IDF said in the statement.
On Wednesday, Israel and the United States announced that U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden would visit Israel for two days beginning on March 8.
