(JTA) – An Arab woman was shot and killed by Border Police officers at a West Bank holy site after she took out a knife and threatened them, Israel Police said.
The woman acted suspiciously early Sunday afternoon as she waited to enter the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, according to police. She then took out a knife and screamed at police while walking toward them. She was shot and killed at the scene, police said. No one else was injured in the incident at a site that is holy to Muslims and Jews.
Earlier Sunday, a Jewish-Israeli man was stabbed when he exited his car on a road in the West Bank after it was hit by rocks thrown by Palestinian demonstrators, according to the Israeli military.
After exiting the car, the 58-year-old victim was approached by a man identified in the Israeli media as Palestinian and stabbed several times in the chest. He was taken from Gush Etzion to Hadassah Medical Center Ein Kerem. Israeli forces are searching for the assailant, who fled.
